Okunland University is an institution with some distinctive characteristics. These attributes are embodied in the pursuit of educational excellence, research at the frontiers of knowledge, quality, and outreach in science, engineering, and technological fields.
As a result, the university will leverage significant advances in pedagogical and didactic methods to:
- Foster new ways of organising academic studies, allowing for greater participation by both ecclesiastical and lay students
- Encourage closer connection and dialogue between the arts and sciences;
- Discern and evaluate both the conditions of and contradictions among modern cultures to make students more suited to the total development of the individual and society; and

The vision of Okunland University is “to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in inquiry, knowledge, and expertise”. Embedded in this vision is the commitment to:

Our Mission
The mission of Okunland University is “to create a faith-based innovative, caring, and collaborative learning environment where graduates will demonstrate integrity and will be prepared for interdisciplinary roles as clinicians, educators, researchers, administrators, and leaders. Faculty and students will contribute to the health of all populations through state-of-heart education, service, and research.”
The university also seeks to promote and encourage research as well as the development of expert knowledge in technological and social disciplines and its implications for the full and integral development of the individual and society.
The university seeks to help students develop an understanding and appreciation for the complex cultural and physical worlds in which they live and realize their highest potential for intellectual, physical, and human development. It also seeks to attract and serve students from diverse social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds and to be sensitive and responsive to those groups that have been disadvantaged by higher education.
University Objectives
The objectives of Okunland University as provided by the university Law shall be to:
- Encourage and promote the advancement of learning and hold out to all persons without distinction of race, creed, sex, religious or political conviction the opportunity to acquire University education;
- Provide an environment of international standards for learning, research, acquisition of specialized skills and comprehensive training of students empowering them to apply knowledge and skill to the benefit of society;
- Encourage and promote scholarship and conduct research in all fields of learning and human endeavour;
- Evolve academic programmes to suit the changing social and economic needs of the society through continuous review of curricular and developments of new programmes through structural flexibility to respond to societal and technological changes;
- Produce internationally acceptable graduates that could compete favourably with their peers anywhere in the world;
- Carry out basic and applied research leading to the domestication and application of new technology to the Nigerian context through collaborative linkages with other academic and research institutions globally;
- Establish a centre for entrepreneurial studies to stimulate job creation and innovative abilities in students from the onset of their studies, in such a way that graduates shall be resourceful, self-reliant and job creators;
- Complement the efforts of the Government in bridging the widening unemployment gap by creating job opportunities for Nigerians; and
- Undertake other activities appropriate for teaching, research and community service as expected of a university of high standard.
